Shade the Changing Man
Peter Milligan's 1990 revision of Steve Ditko character. Shade the Changing Man. Shade's ability to make madness tangible and bend reality made him one of the trippiest characters in comics. The cover artist for the first several issues, a wacky Brit named Brendan McCarthy produced the most psychedelic covers ever seen on a mainstream comic during that time. It was his style I was paying tribute to here.

That is very psychadelic indeed. Never heard of the comic or character, was the cover art just like this or the entire comic?
 pijon [April 14, 2009 @ 09:19 PM]
The art within the comic itself tended to more surreal with occasional flashes of psychedelia except for issue #22 where they let Mr. McCarthy handle pencils and inks for the whole book. Actually, Brendan McCarthy's a top notch illustrator, psycho-delic or otherwise. Mr. Green You should google his name and check out his work. This was another experiment in style for me.

Another successfully spun-out experiment Pij! Intricate and eye-grabbin work man! Detailed and energetic. Cool characters, composition and shadework. I'm always being attacked by winged eyeballs - so know how these guys feel!

Oh yeah, this one spun out alright! hammertime Thanks Davester, I just knew you weren't gonna get blinded by the light (meant to warn folks to wear sunglasses when they look!), really appreciate your notice of and comments on aspects beyond my eye searing colors! LOL Keep those winged eyes at bay, brother! Maybe you could give these guys some pointers! Mr. Green

Elaborate dude. Looks like plenty of effort has gone into this. Nice to see David Spade making an appearance! ha! Just jokin Pidge!
